My idea of the best outsider is
Arcalis as I have a strong feeling the
Johnson yard really fancy him and laid him
out for this and, if he is back to anywhere
near his best, he is undeniably well
handicapped.
He must have decent ground which he has a
good chance of getting on the final day and
his Festival form bears up to the closest
scrutiny.
I just hope Snap Tie runs so the weights
don’t raise too much.
There are dangers aplenty of course notably
and I like Sunnyhillboy but not sure
handicap he will go for.
No longer the getting-out stakes for
Festival punters, this race strangely makes
slightly less appeal as a result.
Several of the leading contenders have other
possible engagements at the meeting, but
Numide has been trained for this race ever
since the Totesport Trophy fell foul to the
weather last month.
He might have beaten Sentry Duty in the
Ladbroke, but for making a mess of the last
flight and a 5lb rise for that effort
doesn’t seem too punitive.
He is an intended runner in the Imperial Cup
beforehand. Realt Dubh is potentially very
well-treated but lacks the experience of
others here.
